  1358 ET - Inflation eased in August, but consumers looking to drink beer at home are still paying higher prices. Beer-at-home pricing increased 3.6% from a year ago, ahead of a less-than-expected 2.5% year-over-year rise in the August CPI. "Beer-away-from-Home is the only alcohol category seeing less pricing than at-home," Roth analysts say in a research note, adding that falling on-premise prices could signal a channel shift. Boston Beer Founder Jim Koch last week at the Barclays Global Consumers Staples Conference noted that companies sometimes neglect on-premise beer sales since they are less profitable than off-premise sales. A focus on on-premise, however, allowed Boston Beer to grow its long-term profitability: "We've always been very strong on-premise," Koch says. "That's where we built our brands."
