Artificial intelligence commands us humans to feed it new processor and memory chips. So foundations are being poured for chip foundries in America, Asia, and Europe, with tens of billions in government and industry commitments. Anticipating the semiconductor capital equipment, or semicap, that will go into those foundries, investors have lifted the shares of the best-known chip equipment makers, like Applied Materials, Lam Research, and ASML Holding.
