1249 ET - Speculators are pushing frozen concentrate orange juice futures to new records--bringing the most-active contract close to the $5 a pound mark for the first time. The uptick comes after the USDA cut its outlook for Florida orange production in its last report earlier this month-estimating production at 17.8 million boxes, down 1 million boxes from the previous estimate. The cut comes due to ongoing issues with greening disease, says Jack Scoville of Price Futures Group in a note. The most-active FCOJ contract is up 3.5% to $4.933 a pound. 0848 GMT - Orange's growth is driven by its Africa and Middle East operations, which are not fully owned by the French telecommunications company, Berenberg analysts Carl Murdock-Smith and Usman Ghazi write in a research note. "Consensus underappreciates the scope for this cash cost line to grow in the future," the analysts say. Therefore, the German brokerage expects increasing minority dividend leakage over time and higher net debt than consensus over the medium term. Also, Orange's wholesale decline in its core French market suggests that earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization after leases in the country are expected to be flat, which places it among the worst European incumbents in terms of Ebitdaal growth trends, they add. Shares are down 0.14% at EUR10.41. (najat.kantouar@wsj.com)

0935 ET - Retail sales of orange juice in gallons touch a new low, according to the latest data from Nielsen. For the 4-week period ended April 20, sales of orange juice totaled 23.74 million gallons. That's the lowest sales volume dating back to 2001. Average retail price eased back slightly from a record high reached in the previous report, with Nielsen saying the average price per gallon of orange juice was at $9.57 per gallon for the period. Orange juice futures have eased back from a record high of $4.26 a pound reached in November, but have stayed rangebound in recent months as the Florida orange crop has slowly bounced back from hurricane and disease damage that sent production to its lowest since the 1940's.
