Tesla stock was falling early Tuesday after rising for a third consecutive day on Monday, gaining 2% and closing at $184.76.

Product lineup extension at Tesla looked to be the biggest reason. Over the weekend, Tesla began offering a rear-wheel drive Model Y with a range of 320 miles per charge, starting at about $45,000. Before the change, the only rear-wheel drive Model Y had a per-charge range of 270 miles and started at about $43,000.

By Anna Hirtenstein Apple (AAPL): The iPhone maker has been working on a chip to run artificial-intelligence software in data-center servers, The Wall Street Journal reported, a move that could give Apple an edge in the AI race. UBS (CH: UBSG, UBS): U.S.-listed shares of the Swiss bank rallied in premarket trading after it reported blockbuster earnings, including quarterly profit that was roughly triple Wall Street's forecast. Palantir Technologies (PLTR): The data-analytics company reported stronger-than-expected revenue, propelled by the AI frenzy, although growth in its U.S. commercial business slowed. Its shares slid in off-hours trading. Lucid (LCID): The electric-vehicle maker reported better-than-forecast sales, but a major portion of those came from the Saudi government, which is a big shareholder. The stock fell 8.5% premarket. United Parcel Service (UPS): The package-delivery giant's chief financial officer said he was departing to focus on his health. BP (UK:BP, BP): The British energy company posted a drop in profit due to lower oil and gas prices, missing analysts' estimates. Aramco (SA: 2222): Saudi Arabia's national oil company said its quarterly profit declined, also missing analysts' forecasts, because of lower crude volumes sold and weaker refining margins. Earnings coming up before the opening bell include Walt Disney (DIS), Nikola (NKLA) and WK Kellogg (KLG). After markets close, Lyft (LYFT) and Reddit (RDDT) are among those on the docket. 1839 ET - Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson is comparing his company with Tesla, his former employer, in more than one metric. Rawlinson points out on a call with analysts that Lucid's production was up about 40% from a year earlier in 1Q, compared with a drop in vehicle sales at Tesla in the same period. Notably, Tesla delivered 386,810 vehicles in 1Q, compared with 1,967 deliveries by Lucid. Rawlinson also notes that Tesla's share price is down about 26% this year, compared with about a 28% drop for Lucid's stock. "There is a trend here in this sector," Rawlinson says. "But look, clearly, we've got a path to get out of it." (ben.glickman@wsj.com; @benglickman)
